I grew up in Jacksonville, IL. I was not into sports in school but I was physically active. I have 7 brothers (YES SEVEN) so we were always outside playing baseball, basketball, running, riding bikes, etc. I have been in the workforce since I turned 16. I focused on my career at Health Care Service Corp. I did not start to really focus on my health and fitness journey until my early 30s after I had my daughter.
I channeled my "being a 1st time mom" anxiety into running. A LOT of running. I ran my first (and only) 1/2 Marathon in February 2016 at Daytona Beach FL. It was the WORST weather ever, low 30s and rain. I ran several 5k and even a 10k at Disney. When COVID hit, my fitness journey took a hit and my health declined. It wasn't till about 2023 that I started to get my health back on track. I was working out with a good friend who was familiar with CrossFit. She tried multiple times to get me into the CrossFit World. I'm a cardio type of gal so I thought I would NEVER like functional fitness or anything that had to do with weights. Oh, was I SO wrong! I joined MetFix Ascend in January 2024 and I have LOVED everything about it since. I wish I would have joined sooner. I am amazed at my strength and what I can do when I put my mind to it! You never realize how important physical health is for your mental health.
I strive to help others. Especially younger minds. Kids are so full of energy. I enjoy teaching and helping kids learn about physical fitness. Being able to watch them learn and accomplish a physical activity for the first time, makes my heart happy.
